Waste Batteries

In accordance with the European Directive, from January 2010 we are obliged to provide a collection location or collection service, for waste Industrial Batteries that have been previously supplied by us and which require disposal. We are registered with the Department of the Environment as a Producer No. BPRN00174.

Procedure

If you wish to dispose of used or waste batteries you should, in the first instance, contact whoever supplied you the batteries. Alternatively you may contact us on the following email address: disposal@powbat.co.uk

PLEASE CLICK HERE TO MAKE AN ENQUIRY ABOUT THIS SERVICE

We will then confirm or otherwise or ask for more information:

If we confirm we will either:

Offer you an appointment date and time to return the batteries to us at disposal location or

Offer to collect the batteries from you..

We are not obliged to collect from you.

Subject to how many batteries you wish to dispose of you may need to apply for a Hazardous Waste Registration which costs £18. We will advise you if that is necessary and how to do that. Please note that small quantities of batteries (usually less than 7 in quantity) can be disposed of at local amenity sites.

If we offer you an appointment to return the batteries to us you must indicate the registered waste carrier license number and confirm the appointment. We will not accept deliveries from non registered carriers. Once you have done this we will issue you with a WRN number which must be clearly marked on any batteries returned to us. No batteries returned will be accepted here without a WRN number clearly shown. Batteries to be returned must be non hazardous and have no damage of any kind to the cases or lids, they must be safely and properly packed by yourselves. We will send you guidance on packing requirements with the appointment confirmation. We retain the right not to accept back inadequately packed or hazardous batteries at our own discretion. No charge is made for this part of the service.

If we offer to collect batteries from you at your location we will ask you for a firm date from which the batteries will be packed and available. Again we will send you packing guidance. We would again reserve the right not to make the collection if the batteries are hazardous or inadequately packed, see above. You may be required to make a pre payment for freight via our website dependant upon the quantity of batteries to be disposed of. If we ask you to make a payment we will issue you a WRN number and you must mark the batteries with this number. Enter the WRN number and the value advised to you below, click add to cart and you will be asked to enter credit/debit card details. Once we have received payment our carrier will contact you to make the collection. At our discretion we may reduce or waive collection freight charges.
